Peggy is a true dance bohemian: she knows how to play up against contemporary orthodoxy and turn it on its head. It’s why she is a great artist… There is always method in what she does, but what she does is always unexpected and always a joy to watch…” - Mikhail Baryshnikov

Peggy Baker is the winner of a Governor General's Lifetime Achievement in the Arts award; the inaugural Premier's Award for Excellence in the Arts; the Walter Carsen Prize; and is a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario.

Peggy's distinguished career as a dancer includes seasons with Toronto's Dancemakers, New York's Lar Lubovitch, Mark Morris' and Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project, and as the principal solo artist of her own company. She now focusses on her role as choreographer of her ensemble, creating full-length main stage works as well as dance installations.
